Army Special Forces
Who can tell me about Army Special Forces?
I'm interested in the Special Forces postions in the Army. I would love to hear from someone who's been in it or a close family member. I've already gone through MEPS and passed the physical and have high ASVAB scores. No college to speak of and I'm 29. Yeah, maybe this sounds crazy, but I'd like to hear from you all about this unique section of the military. Thank you for your help, again.
you first have to build up some service time before you tryout. You must be E-4 or above and you gotta be physically & mentally TOUGH!! I MEAN 'MONSTER TOUGH'. Selection itself is almost impossible to pass unless you've been training for it. But once you are in SF, you will never regret.
It is good to set your goal high. If you really want to test yourself, get Ranger contract. you will have to go through some intense training. Marines are nothing compared to what Rangers have to go through. It is no joke

Desktop Alert, Inc. announced the company has been selected by three more United States Army Garrisons in Europe as their primary network-based mass notification platform of choice. These locations are USAG Brussels, USAG BENELUX in Belgium, and USAG Shinnen in The Netherlands.
The alerts appear as pre-defined or on-the-fly pop-up windows which force immediate attention to workstation receiving the message with instructions for the action(s) to be taken. A video, audio, image and/or verbal alert automatically sound/appear over the computer's monitor and speakers. Alerts are received base-wide within an average of one minute after the alert is sent.
"The expansion of Desktop Alert to more Army Garrisons in Europe is exactly what serves our soldiers and personnel in the fastest and most cost-effective manner. Expanding this capability produces a system which now provides computer-based notifications with immediate feedback and confirmed results. It is imperative that our operations and command centers have access to the latest technologies that advance real-time communication and collaboration," said David Zadick, President of Desktop Alert Inc. "Effective notification and communication allows members of our armed forces to better collaborate for mission success. Desktop Alert is privileged to continue its work with the US Army Garrisons and will help ensure the ongoing success of this next-generation mass notification technology for our military forces worldwide."
USAG Baden-Württemberg in Heidelberg has used Desktop Alert for over a year in addition to the many other Military units using Desktop Alert around the world. USAG Brussels provides base operations service to the combined, joint and inter-agency communities that support the US interests in Brussels and provides distinguished visitors premier support while in the Brussels area. It also provides Army base operations for joint military and inter-agency communities to support U.S. personnel in and in support of NATO throughout our seven-nation footprint.
USAG Schinnen is the U.S. Army's only garrison in the Netherlands and is on the Eastern edge of the "Benelux", an acronym formed by the European abbreviations for Belgium (BE), Netherlands (NE) and Luxembourg (LUX). With our area of responsibility spanning across Northern Germany and our proximity to NATO organizations, USAG Schinnen is at the heart of a dynamic cross-border community that possesses distinct challenges and opportunities.
Desktop Alert provides USAG Garrisons state-of-the-art network-centric emergency notification system to provide base-wide emergency notification using the base's existing Internet Protocol (IP) network. The procurement and deployment followed a successful presentation of Desktop Alerts' notification offerings across Europe to high profile U.S. Military installations.
DTA provides an extensive NetCentric Architecture for the emergency mass notification and personnel accountability system. Desktop Alert provides all of the components needed to execute controlled information management and content distribution. This system can integrate with other Desktop Alert users at Headquarter and other Garrison installations across Europe and the globe.
U.S. Army Garrison's emergency alert system operates via Desktop Alerts Web-based administrative interface. Using this web-based console, administrators OR moderators may publish alerts from any computer connected to the base's network
