Coin Collecting

There was a time in the history of the nation where children and adults can expect to find ancient coins, mixed with their pocket money. You can find Indian Pennies Buffalo Head Nickels or coins containing silver. Today, the best we can hope for is a casual wheat penny, unless you are one of the many people who collect State Quarters.

Prior to 1999 pieces collected as a hobby that has lost much of its popularity and some say it was declining. In January 1999, the first quarter State Program Area 50 has been issued Suddenly, the U.S. currency was in love again. Once again children and adults have found their pocket change state the last quarter.

The program began with the publication of the fourth of Delaware in January 1999 and should end when the Hawaii quarter published in October 2008. The schedule calls for five periods per year, which corresponds to a new ready to be published approximately every 10 weeks. It is the time relatively short time between the issuance of each part of the state is partly responsible for the popularity of programs like that. The program will be extended beyond May 2008 to the quarters with designs in honor of the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and U.S. territories Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa and the Virgin Islands may issue.

The U.S. program popular is based on a program also known as the Royal Mint of Canada made in 1992 to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Canada of Confederation. Canada has issued a number of months of this year to commemorate each of the 10 provinces and 2 territories. Today should be a program for 13 months since Canada now has 3 territories - Nunavut became a territory in 1999.

Before the 50 States Quarter Program has been decided, other suggestions based on 125 Canada program visited world numismatics. One of them was a matter of dollars and special means to commemorate each state. Although the supply of money would be legal, was reasoned, would not affect because people are not used to seeing or spending half dollars. They become a collector develop and introduce the hobby of numismatics in another generation.

The U.S. currency makes money every time you strike a coin. When the state quarter program began in 1999 the cost of currency of 3 cents per piece to produce. The 3 cents include the costs of production and material costs used in the room. Demand for new district of Washington, has overcome previous production runs. In 1998, production of neighborhoods, the standard rooms last year was just over 1.7 million. The district has launched a new state in 1999 had a production run of more than 4.4 million. In 2000, production has been searched 6.5 million. Earnings were 22 cents a coin can add significantly when multiplied by 6.5 billion.

When people started its change of control "state quarters" that began to consider ways to collect coins. The currency market has experienced a renaissance among the fans. Pickup date and mint sets are also popular, and the collection of precious metals and of course, collecting the 50 quarters of the state.
