How should the Olympics medal table be ordered? And Why?

Should it be the country with the most medals of any color first? Or should it be the country with the most gold medals (then silver, then bronze)? Or perhaps it should not be deemed a competition and the nations should be placed alphabetically?
If the reportedly old system was used China would lead with 334 with USA in 2nd on 333! How much more exciting would that be?!

This is from the the IOC Website

Furthermore, the results that we publish are official and are taken from the "Official Report" - a document published for each Olympic Games by the Organising Committee. However, for the first Olympic Games (until Antwerp in 1920), it is difficult to give the exact number of medals awarded to some countries, due to the fact that teams were composed of athletes from different countries.

The medal tables by country are based on the number of medals won, with gold medals taking priority over silver and bronze. A team victory counts as one medal.

So 1 gold, 0 silver 0 bronze is better than 0 gold, 100 silver 100 bronze.

For simplicity for you Americans, the country that wins most golds, wins, OK, you sure seem to have a hard time understanding this very basic concept, lol

Physiologically, it's brutal. We're talking about near maximal sustained ventilation - heart-rate and oxygen uptake to support the high power outputs over the six-odd minutes it takes to row 2 000m, while attempting to maintain the most effective and efficient technical form at stroke rates of 30 to 40 per minute.

The Brit Sir Steve Redgrave, who many consider the greatest Olympian ever, was 38 when he won his fifth consecutive gold (in Sydney 2000).

Rowing is primarily a strength-endurance type of sport. Use the one-legged squat to develop strength for optimal leg drive through the rowing stroke.

Exercise: One-Legged Squats

Find a high bench and stand on it so that one leg dangles over the outside edge. The bench needs to be high enough that your foot doesn't touch the ground when your other leg is in a parallel or low-squat position. Now, lower yourself slowly into the squat position (aim to eventually get your thighs parallel with the bench) and stand up. Try to aim for two to three sets of 10 to 15 repetitions on each leg.

Winning Tactics: Row Right

Rowing technique requires a large amount of skill and finesse to keep the boat going forwards at a gold medal-winning speed. Avoid the following faults in technique to ensure optimal performance. Best of all, you don't need to be on the water, this also works with indoor rowers.

1. Rowing with Bent Arms

The Fault

The rower starts the drive by pulling with the arms, rather than pushing with the legs.

The Correction

The drive starts by pushing the legs and bracing the back with the arms fully extended and relaxed.

2. Pulling up too Far and Leaning Back too Much

The Fault

At the finish of the stroke, the rower pulls the handle up too high and leans back too far.

The Correction

Draw the handle into the body. The wrists should be flat and the elbows drawn past the body, with his forearms as horizontal as possible.
